BII Civic and Educational Activities
California Coalition for Construction in the Classroom (CCCC):
The BII was a founding member of the CCCC in 1998. The CCCC is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization. CCCC is comprised of the entire building industry including sheet metal manufacturers and air conditioning contractors, homebuilders, specialty contractors, general contractors, architects, engineers, and inspectors. Many high schools today have eliminated their shop and mechanical arts classes. CCCC’s purpose is to promote educational programs that prepare students for careers in California’s multi-billion dollar construction industry and create a highly qualified workforce for the industry. The CCCC has developed an extensive career awareness program as well as education modules that prepare students for success in the construction world. The programs include Job Shadowing, Shop Programs, Skill Competitions, a Speakers Bureau and on-line Resources. The CCCC has also been instrumental in obtaining additional state funding for vocational education facilities and programs. For more information please see their website at www.constructcareers.org.
