Dan Lloyd

Dan Lloyd is an independent developer and land-use entitlement specialist from San Luis Obispo. His career started in the early 1970s in Southern California where he was a Public Works project designer for the City of Santa Ana. He then worked for several years in the San Luis Obispo Public Works Department in the late 1970s.

In 1984, Lloyd started Engineering Development Associates, a civil engineering, surveying and land planning firm whose clientele included municipalities, school districts, military contractors, corporate and private-sector interests. After 16 years as president and chief executive officer, he sold the company to his employees in 2000 and started developing commercial and residential projects in the greater San Luis Obispo region.

Lloyd was instrumental in the early 1990s in the creation of the Home Builders Association of the Central Coast, which serves San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. He served as its president in 1995. He has remained very active in the local and statewide activities of the organization, and has served as chair of the Land Use and Economic Development subcommittee since 1996. He also is active in the Environmental Affairs, Budget, and Evaluation and Strategic Planning subcommittees, and is Chair of the Green Building Task Force.

He became CFO/Secretary for the CBIA in 2008.
